Taking the stress out of reporting birth or death
6:50am Thursday 23rd February 2012
A NEW system aimed at reducing the stress of registering a death or birth has been launched by Worcestershire County Council.
The Tell Us Once service enables customers to report a death or birth just once, and with the customer’s consent, the information is shared with a number of central and local government organisations so they do not have to contact each of them individually themselves.
The council claims the new system has been designed around customers and pilots of the service have proved that it makes it easier, quicker and cheaper for both the customer and government to register a change of circumstance.
This leads to an improved level of service for customers saving them time, money and unnecessary stress, it says.
Councillor John Campion, cabinet member for localism and communities, said: “This system makes it much easier for families during what can be a very stressful time and it reduces duplication and ensures better use of resources.”
Councillor David Thain, cabinet member for rransformation and change, said: “We aim to deliver the highest quality customer service and constantly strive for improvement.
“Tell Us Once has been designed with the customer in mind and enables us do just that.
“The system has worked well in other parts of the country and so we are hoping it will be just as popular in Worcestershire.”
Anyone wanting to take advantage of the service can do so by calling the Worcestershire Hub on 08456 032859 to make an appointment.
The advisor will book an appointment with a local registrar and will let you know what you need to take along.
