Neill is putting in a marathon effort

A MAN from Malvern is busy putting in the miles ahead of taking to the streets of the capital for his first marathon attempt in the name of charity.

Neill Scott, of Newtown Road, who has completed the half-marathon distance in the past, is taking part in the London Marathon on Sunday, April 22, with the aim of raising £1,800 for Leonard Cheshire Disability.

The charity supports thousands of disabled people in the UK and works in more than 50 countries. Its campaigns and services aim to improve opportunities for disabled people as well as supporting them to pursue their goals and to live full lives.

Mr Scott, who recently turned 40, said his family and friends were proud of him taking up the challenge but some thought he was mad.

“I wanted to celebrate this by running the London Marathon. In addition I am very honoured to be able to raise funds for such a worthy and hardworking charity, who enable less fortunate people have a better life.

“It’s hard in the winter to drag myself out but I find running to and from work seems to help.”
