Mark the Queen’s Jubilee for free
12:00pm Sunday 5th February 2012
RESIDENTS in Newent and Dymock who may be planning events for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee are being offered a helping hand with their celebrations.
Gloucestershire County Council is waiving the £75 cost of applying for a road closure to anyone planning events between Saturday and Tuesday, June 2-5.
Councillor Will Windsor Clive, responsible for highways, said: “Occasions like this and the Olympics are great for building community spirit so we’ve made this gesture to ensure everyone can get out and celebrate.”
The council still needs the normal 12 weeks’ notice and so applications need to be in by Monday, April 30.
To apply for a closure, e-mail streetworks@gloucestershire.gov.
