Threat to ambulance station?
5:20pm Thursday 2nd September 2010
AMBULANCE bosses have been warned that closing Ledbury’s ambulance station would mean “playing chess with people’s lives”.
A threat to Ledbury’s station has seemingly emerged after UNISON secretary Andy Kibble told a public meeting that bosses are “seriously looking” at closure.
Mr Kibble, an ambulance technician, said stations across the region are under review by the West Midlands Ambulance Service and that numbers could be reduced from 38 down to as few as 15.
Stations in Ledbury, Bromyard and Ross-on-Wye were proposed for closure three years ago but remained open in the face of overwhelming opposition from the public, councillors and unions.
